Bienvenidos a Argentina

Hola padres and amigos,

We have officially been in Buenos Aires for three days and they have been jam packed with activities.

We landed early in the morning on the 26th and arrived shortly after at our hostel in one of the oldest neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, San Telmo. We hit the ground running by eating a lunch filled with traditional Argentine food followed by a walk around the city. We explored the neighborhood of San Telmo, saw La Casa Rosada and the Obelisco. As Argentinians, we finished our night with a late dinner at a steak house to celebrate our first day together.

The following morning we woke up ready for a big day at una estancia (an Argentinian ranch) that provided us with a snapshot of gaucho (real cowboy) life. We experienced our first asado (BBQ), rode horses, and watched a tango performance while drinking matte. The day capped off with a gaucho skill performance on their horses.

After a busy day at the estancia, we prepared for a fancy dinner and an authentic tango show. The performance in true Argentinian form began late in the evening and ended at 11:30 PM.

Despite the late night, the students were up and ready for yet another busy day. We hopped on the subway to a train station where we boarded a train to El Tigre, a town outside of the city where we explored and took a two hour boat ride through the delta back to Puerto Madero, a harbor in Buenos Aires.

The stoke level is high! We jet set down to El Calafate tomorrow morning where we will explore the only ascending glacier in the world!

Hablamos pronto!
